As an artist, I strive to create works that express the aspirations and feelings entangled in my thoughts to be released into the world as ideas on a surface.  Art is a state of mind, a consciousness that must be nourished, nurtured, and emitted . Creating work is a process that transitions from this world into another.  I prefer to place everything from start to finish on a single canvas so everyone can observe the motion, time, marks, process, ink placement, and intention. In the end, going through challenges requires a lot of confidence, as I must revel in every slight mistake, experiment, and intention and blend them into one. Working intuitively is crucial because it builds trust between my work and I.  I have to accept that there will be moments when I create something I neither entirely understand nor like.  Being a formalist and witnessing materials come together while having an underlying notion is important to me.

For my final thesis show, I have presented several works, ‘Common Thread’,  that revolve around the color blue, the ocean, and my cultural identity as a Qatari artist. I'm drawn to the water, the color blue, and the idea of capturing traces and the movement of my ancestry into formal art. It makes me feel guarded and protected, comparable to the water encircling Doha.
