Hello, my name is Fajer Al-Abdulghani, a 22 year old multidisciplinary Qatari artist. My art focuses mainly on the imaginary. In my art I try to tap into the worlds of surrealism and the macabre. I shed light on the strange, the absurd and the out of ordinary through the use of humor and horror.

This latest installation consists of six miniature sculptural figures that represent horrifying imaginary creatures. Alongside those creatures are six close-up shots, taken from various angles, mimicking the visions we have of monsters. The figures appear contorted, hovering, cowering, twisted, distorting our sense of scale and perception. This project aims to represent how we imagine “monsters”.

I wanted to bring those creatures into life through the medium of clay. Working with clay allowed me the spontaneity I desired to be able to create creatures straight from my imagination. To further enhance the eerie aura, I have created a short animation that can be viewed through a QR code, allowing the creatures to come alive.
