Hello, this is Hassan Alshehhi, a young Qatari multidisciplinary artist. My story started as a hobby with drawing flowers at a young age and evolved over the years to where I am now. I enjoy mixing materials and testing new things out to get something unordinary and unique to me.

In my practice I try to shed light on inner feelings and thoughts, ones that we usually don’t project to others because they’re considered taboo. My work questions societal expectations around emotions and humanity.

“A broken heart is a teary eye, has a luminosity of glass that is brittle and can break at any given moment.”

The reason I chose glass as my main material is because of the nature of the material itself and its metaphorical connotations in relation to human emotions. Similar to the heart, glass is fragile, can break, shatter, and be molded into different forms. Having something see through where you can view through it, will change your perspective depending on where you stand.

My idea is to suspend glass droplets from the ceiling by a colorless fishing line to mimic pouring rain. the larger circle on top and smaller as it goes down to face length, it has lights hitting from the top to cast a shadow on the ground, to play with presence and absence. for the poem, suspended the acrylic board close to the wall, hanging by colorless fishing line with a light source behind it to cast a shadow of the engraved words onto the wall. the words are read of the wall, as if it was a ghost, the notion of presence and absence.
