What is fake and what is real? What is trending and what is not? Standardized Standards is a research project that combines two topics: social media and cultural behaviour. Social media has become the go-to option for self-evaluation and self-promotion. In contemporary Qatari society, social media has increasingly become the venue for very strategic and carefully crafted self-curation and messaging, giving the impression of a perfect life through the lens of the camera. This research looks at cultural and social trends, the act of showing off, faking reality and behavioural observations. It emphasizes showing modernized cultural behaviours and social media platform trends while investigating their effect on the user's behaviour.
This research serves as a guide to help the user stay updated with current trends and behaviours. While it attempts to expose the behaviours, it does not judge.
The intention is to inspire people to live their lives and pursue their individual interests, regardless of whether they fall under the classification of real or fake lives. The hope of Standardized Standards is to emphasize the fact that no one has the right to judge you and every individual has the right to reveal their lifestyle the way they want the world to view it.
