Many societies gravitate toward having a like-minded community with similar cultural habits and living choices. However, excess imitation and trends can lead to a lack of individuality. After researching Qatari society, I have found many examples of repeated patterns of similarity in life choices such as food, drink, transportation, fashion, and sports. Taking a subversive approach to these trends, I used images to design a series of patterns highlighting this concept of imitation. These designed patterns portray the trending lifestyle choices in this particular consumer culture. The patterns have been printed on items used daily by Qataris as a way to further this subversive commentary.
